Прототип макета в масштабе 1:4 был разработан для Sideshow ребятами из
Stan Winston Studios Джоном Розенгрантом и Тревором Хэнсли, первый из которых участвовал в создании костюма для фильма "Хищник".
Регулярная версия макета была выпущена количеством в 750 экземпляров, которые были распроданы сразу же после открытия пред-заказа в июле 2005г. и отправлены счастливчикам в июне 2006г. The Predator Maquette Production Sample был мною приобретён на eBay в рамках
аукциона «Коллекционируй для Жизни», организованном Sideshow в благотворительных целях. Для данного аукциона Сайды воспроизвели из своего архива несколько уникальных прототипов, которые были представлены в разных цветовых вариациях, а также пару раритетных эксклюзивов. Вся выручка, полученная командой Sideshow от аукциона, была направлена в центр по борьбе с раком и национальный благотворительный детский фонд.
Данный макет идентичен
эксклюзивной версии, выпущенной Sideshow в количестве 300 экземпляров, которая отличается от обычного выпуска наличием сменной головы в маске, что имеет особую значимость, поскольку я считаю, что боевая био-маска Хищника – это олицетворение инопланетного охотника.
В свою очередь The Predator Maquette Production Sample имеет отличительную особенность: во-первых – это не номерной экземпляр, а во-вторых он подписан Джоном Розенгрантом и Тревором Хэнсли.
И как вещало описание данного макета на аукционе, сей экземпляр ценен много больше тем, что первоначальный образец был спроектирован и разработан под руководством самого мистера Винстона перед его кончиной в 2008 году. Здесь я не много не допонял, что именно Sideshow хотели этим сказать, верно просто хотели придать значимости лоту, но может я что-то неточно перевёл, в связи с чем, для желающих ознакомиться с оригиналом описания лота, привожу подлинный текст:

The staff at Sideshow Collectibles believes that through the power of our collectors, we all can make a difference in the lives of so many! Thus, Sideshow has released some unique prototypes, paint variants and sought after exclusives from our archives, which will be featured in our ‘Collect for Life (TM)’ auctions. All proceeds from these unique auctions will go to local cancer causes and national children’s charities!
This auction is for a highly detailed, hand finished, production sample of the ‘original’ Predator Maquette, the first figure produced in partnership with Stan Winston Studios and Sideshow Collectibles, shipped to collectors in June of 2006. The Predator Maquette stands at an imposing two feet in height, including the detailed jungle base. It includes detailed body armor and a fabric net body suit authentic to the iconic film costume, with leather material accents and impeccable detail, right down to the shoulder cannon and complex skin patterns. Starting with scanned data reduced in size from the 1:1 scale original on display at Stan Winston Studios, senior artists Trevor Hensley and John Rosengrant meticulously recreated the cinema classic in approximately 1:4 scale with unrivaled authenticity. In their words, "the details surpass the original."
This edition of only 750 pieces worldwide sold out quickly after its initial pre-order in July of 2005 and prices for it skyrocketed on the secondary market shortly after it shipped to collectors. This figure is estimated to be worth much more due to its production sample nature and that prototyping for this piece was done under the supervision of Mr. Winston prior to his unfortunate passing in 2008.
The item comes with a printed base bottom with hand written indication of production sample. It comes in a white blank production inner box and with an original shipper box with Sideshow Collectible markings. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany the item. Production samples are used by our design Department to verify the details, paint features, and sculpture accuracy of the edition were completed to our specifications and match the original prototype. It is not uncommon to see handwritten comments from our production department on the bases and boxes of these items as part of the creation process. Many of these production samples are unnumbered and are generally independent of the edition. Most of these are destroyed as part of the creative process.
This Production Sample of the Predator Maquette will be sent to you in the ‘as is’ condition as described by the text and as seen with all the details and any imperfections displayed in the photos provided in the auction.
