Because of an accident involving an alien - Drake's face, armour and weapon were screwed up, he pulled himself together and rebuilded his smartgun and damaged armour. Also he found Nam Rat Mask left by one of the colonists.
He was so pissed off -__- he made tattoo "king of land".
